How to Create A Zip or Rar File

In this post I will show you how to make a Zip or Rar file. These are two different extensions of files used to store data. Zip format is usually used for storing temporary data in pc, it contain one or several files all placed in a single file called zip archieve. Rar format is used for backing up data for longer time, it is used to store your files for a longer period of time. You can compress the size of your files and make them smaller in size. Hence, rar format proves best for storing data for a long time. However, you can use any format for compressing your data but the rar is more reliable than zip format.

There are many softwares available on the Internet, using them you can easily compress your files into zip or rar format. However, the most famous and easy to use software is Winrar. Most people use it for creating zip or rar file because of it's easy to use interface. In this tutorial we will also use winrar to create a zip file. You can get the software Winrar from our site or from the Internet. It can be easily downloaded from Google search.

After you have downloaded the software, you just need to install it. Installation is very simple  Once you have downloaded and installed Winrar in your pc, you are ready to create your Zip or Rar.

Step 1: Open your folder in which you have files to be compressed as zip or rar file.

 

Step 2: Right Click on your files and from the pop up menu select "add to archive".

Step 3: A new window will open enter the archive name, choose the format zip or Rar, set Password for your file if you want.

Step 4: Now click on OK.

Step 5: Wait a little while, until the archive is being created.



Step 6: Now after some time your zip or rar archive has been created.
